The new Baywatch movie, which is due out in 2017, continues its casting of new faces in old roles. San Andreas and True Detective star Alexandra Daddario was cast recently in the role of Summer, previously played by Nicole Eggert. She joined Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, who have been on board for some time now.
Today, Johnson announced via his Instagram account that the role of C.J. Parker, previously played by Pamela Anderson, will be played by model and actress Kelly Rohrbach.
For our #BAYWATCH and the iconic role of “CJ Parker” I had to make sure @kellyrohrbach was… tough.

Rohrbach has also landed a role in the upcoming (and still untitled) Woody Allen movie, and has bounced around to various television shows with supporting roles on Two and Half Men and Rizzoli and Isles. She had a lead role in The CW’s The P.E.T Squad Files, a comedy about ghost chasers.

Whether or not this Baywatch revision is going to be any good is anyone’s guess. What we do know is that with Seth Gordon on to direct, the tone might be a bit funnier than the original 90s television show. To say that Dwayne Johnson is a more charismatic comedic lead than say, David Hasselhoff, isn’t exactly a stretch. So funnier, more modern and still with plenty of slow-motion running. That sounds about right for a Baywatch movie. We can only hope that it lands closer to 21 Jump Street in tone and reverence, perhaps with a little bit of Hasselhoff cameo for good measure.
